NDEAM

NDEAM 2024

October 24, 2024 by Jennifer Tennican

Observed each October, during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, or “NDEAM,” we celebrate the value and talent workers with disabilities add to America’s workplaces and economy. NDEAM’s purpose is to confirm our commitment to ensuring disabled workers have access to good jobs every month of every year. That’s the spirit behind this year’s official theme: “Access to Good Jobs for All.”

We partnered with several Vertical Harvest employees to create Instagram reels this year. Check them out and follow us: @heartsofglassfilm

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is always a busy time for us. This year we’re working with employee resource groups, academic institutions and a professional association. 2023’s theme is “Advancing Access and Equity.” Let’s ensure that all people have equal opportunity to contribute their skills and talents! NDEAM & ERGs

October 31, 2022 by Jennifer Tennican

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is always a busy time for us. This year, we noticed an uptick in our work with corporate partners. Our Hearts of Glass programming is proving to be a great fit for disability-focused employee resource groups (ERGs).

“Provided a wonderful opportunity to explore the impact of disability inclusion and highlight our ABLE ERG.”

—Nick Wagner, Learning Senior Manager
Fortune 500 Company

What are the benefits of ERGs? Here are a couple.

  • Creating a sense of belonging
  • Fostering engagement

  • Mycah, Johnny, Ava and Amanda – share their thoughts about what they like most about their jobs.
  • Ty shares three things he likes about his job
  • “What is your job and what do you like most about it?”

NDEAM Event-Apalooza!

October 31, 2021 by Jennifer Tennican

“The theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) 2021, ‘America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion’ reflects the importance of ensuring that people with disabilities have full access to employment and community involvement during the national recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.” – Office of Disability Employment Policy

We averaged two Hearts of Glass events a week throughout October. We worked with small liberal arts colleges, big state universities, nonprofits and state agencies to catalyze conversations about inclusion inside and outside of the workplace. Twelve different Vertical Harvest employees participated in panel discussions with a few speaking at multiple virtual events. They all shared valuable insights about challenges and opportunities during the pandemic.
