Vertical Harvest

NDEAM 2024

October 24, 2024 by Jennifer Tennican

Observed each October, during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, or “NDEAM,” we celebrate the value and talent workers with disabilities add to America’s workplaces and economy. NDEAM’s purpose is to confirm our commitment to ensuring disabled workers have access to good jobs every month of every year. That’s the spirit behind this year’s official theme: “Access to Good Jobs for All.”

We partnered with several Vertical Harvest employees to create Instagram reels this year. Check them out and follow us: @heartsofglassfilm

Endings & Beginnings

January 31, 2023 by Jennifer Tennican

It was an honor to close out 2022 by providing programming for the newest employee resource group (ERG) at Stripe — Adapt.

“Adapt supports the well-being, professional development, and leadership potential of Stripes who experience, or are caretakers of those who manage mental health, neurodiversity, chronic illness or physical challenges through education, mentorship, allyship, collaboration and discussion.”

In January of 2023, we were thrilled to be part of the Partners in Policymaking Alabama (PIPA) Conference. PIPA and the Alabama Developmental Disabilities Network made the film and panel discussion available to the current PIPA cohort and alums. JoJo Denmark and Lucas Freeze, who both joined Vertical Harvest in 2022, were part of the panel. They had great insights about accommodations and working in an inclusive environment.

Portland Maine Premiere!

November 30, 2022 by Jennifer Tennican

We had our Maine premiere at the Press Hotel in Portland. The screening, presented by Vertical Harvest and the Press Hotel, was followed by a moderated panel discussion with audience Q&A featuring the co-founder of Vertical Harvest Farms, Caroline Croft-Estay; Vertical Harvest employee, Sean Stone; filmmaker, Jennifer Tennican; and Maine Medical Center’s Employee Relations Specialist, Chris Hynes. Vertical Harvest Westbrook (a suburb of Portland) is slated to open in late 2023. For updates, visit verticalharvestfarms.com.

On the verge of completing Hearts of Glass, our feature-length documentary following the first 15 months of Vertical Harvest’s operation, we wish Jackson Hole’s vertical farm with a social mission, “Happy 2nd Anniversary.” Enjoy a short video we put together for the celebration.

Thank you, Vertical Harvest, for giving JenTen Productions amazing access to people and plants. It has allowed us to weave business drama with the personal journeys of the employees. We’re excited to take people on a journey of innovation, inclusion, social entrepreneurship and local food production.

#2 May 8th – Pizzeria Caldera Fundraiser

Join us at Pizzeria Caldera for a four-course, Italian-descended, locally-inspired dinner to support Hearts of Glass, a JenTen Production in partnership with Slow Food in the Tetons. First of four courses served at 6:30 PM, so arrive at 6 PM, please.

Tickets available at:http://bit.ly/PizzeriaCaldera_HeartsOfGlass

Your ticket includes a four-course meal (vegetarian option available) and either a cocktail, a glass of wine or a soft drink. Cash bar available. Jackson Hole Still Works will unveil it’s signature cocktail for the film, so hold onto your hat!

Proceeds from the event go toward a $2,500 challenge match from First Interstate Bank.

#3 May 11 – “Through Our Lens” at Center for the Arts

JenTen is participating in this evening of film presented by Jackson Hole WILD and Orijin Media. Five short films will screen and we’ll share an excerpt from our work-in-progress, Hearts of Glass. The event celebrates gender equality in filmmaking. Tickets available at: Center for the Arts
