From right to left the colors are red, yellow, white, blue and green.

Springing Into Action

Square Graphic with white background. Text at the top “SPRINGING INTO ACTION.” Below the text are two square graphics – one is for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 2023 and the other is for Autism Acceptance Month. The DD Awareness graphic features original artwork – multi-colored leaves outlined in black against a bright green background. There’s an orange band with text that runs across the lower quarter of the graphic. Text reads “Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 2023 Beyond the Conversation #DDAM2023.” To the right of that graphic is another with a dark blue background with white text arched across the top - “AUSTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH.” Below the text is a bright green infinity sign (an “8” on its side). Below that is the text “Different Not Less.” Every letter in the word “different” uses a unique font. In the lower right corner of the graphic is the Disability:IN logo.

We’ve had an exciting couple of months. Here are some highlights during Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and Autism and Neurodiversity Acceptance Month. NDEAM & ERGs

October 31, 2022 by Jennifer Tennican

2022 NDEAM square graphic. A black colored chalkboard background is overlaid with mathematical equations. In the center of the image, on a diagonal, is a black rectangle bordered by small teal, yellow and red rectangles. It features the 2022 NDEAM theme, “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation,” along with an equation composed of several graphics: a circular photo of a woman in a wheelchair working at a computer with colleagues, followed by a plus sign, followed by a square image of a woman who uses crutches viewing a document with a colleague, followed by an equal sign, followed by a light bulb icon. Across the top of the rectangle in small, white letters are the words National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Along the bottom in small white letters is the hashtag “NDEAM” followed by ODEP’s website address, dol.gov/ODEP. In the lower right corner in white lettering is the DOL seal followed by the words “Office of Disability Employment Policy United States Department of Labor.”

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is always a busy time for us. This year, we noticed an uptick in our work with corporate partners. Our Hearts of Glass programming is proving to be a great fit for disability-focused employee resource groups (ERGs). “Provided a wonderful opportunity to explore the impact of disability inclusion and highlight our ABLE ERG.” —Nick Wagner, …
